Hey Everyone, I hope you are doing extremely well. Here is my second Blog on the topic what is "HackSquad" and will be sharing how our team secured under the Top 60 rank in this event.

What is HackSquad?

So, HackSquad is the event promoting Open Source Contributors to participate in the month-long challenge and make valid Pull Requests. It is very similar to the Hacktoberfest Challenge and HackSquad runs parallel with the HackSquad Challenge that is in October. Here anyone can participate and join a squad to complete the Challenge. Whether you are a beginner or you are a pro in Open Source you can join a squad and make Contributions. The event was open to all Low Code or No Code Contributions also.

I got to know about HackSquad through the Tech Community that an event is happening and we just have to make a squad and make Pull Requests to win the Challenge. So, I asked the Community whether I am eligible to join someone's squad or not. Immediately one of the members pings me that I should join the Squad. The Tech Communities are so helpful and play an important role for anyone who is asking for help.

After that, we were at the 192nd position when I joined the squad and named it "AlphaBois". No motivation was there at all. But our 5 Member team supported each other and helped each one who was facing any difficulties. Then we started Open source Contributions in multiple Repositories which are beginner Friendly and also shared among the Squad.

HackSquad has some Criteria to be eligible for winning. First of all the Pull Request we are making should be Valid and we will get 1 point for making a Valid Pull Request. Your Pull Request should not be spammy in that you are just adding your name to someone's Repository for the sake of Pull Request. The Maintainers were active throughout the month and checked who was making the Spammy Pull Requests.

This year more than 200 Squads participated in the Challenge and to win the Swags we have to be under the Top 60 rank after the event completes. As I said above our team members were very helpful and helped each one of us to make valid Pull Requests. So by the time event ends our position was fluctuating and not remained constant at one position.

After making successful Contributions by each one of the Squad Members we were able to come under the Top 60 position in the Challenge. The Position was not constant at all and we were just making more Valid Pull Requests to be able to come under the Top 60. Hopefully, when the event ended we were in 59th Position and were eligible for swags. Here is the Leaderboard showing our squad position which is "AlphaBois"-

Soon after the event ends we got the Confirmation from HackSquad that our team secured the 59th Position and were eligible for the prizes. This was an amazing event of HackSquad by NOVU. We had a lot of fun, and interactions, and the main thing was Networking with other people and helping each other.

I would like to thank Novu for Organizing a such event to let the Open Source Contributors Participate and get some amazing Swags.

Thank You!
